Madlela Skhobokhobo and his protégé Skhosana Buhlungu who are fresh from a successful South African trip will be in Gwanda this weekend where they are billed to perform at the Qoki koJahunda compilation CD launch.

The launch to be held at Aquaworld Leisure Centre (located at Gwanda Hotel) tomorrow is a Planet Kadder Academy (Plaka) initiative that is aimed at exposing and uplifting Gwanda talent. The CD has 10 tracks including Woza December by Mafuka; Ndirimuhondo by Marco featuring Fab G Umshana KaGogo and Cliff Jeans; Njalo Nje by Khoikhoi featuring Thandy Dhlana, Madlela Skhobokhobo and Kadder Kwaitostar; Mask Up by Lincoln Magabo featuring Petty McCroc and Jahunda by Kadder featuring Zhezhingtonz and Khoi Khoi.

Plaka founder, songstress Kadder said all is set for the event where almost all the artistes featured on the compilation CD are set to perform.

“Everything is in place for the gig and we’re humbled by the fact that Madlela Skhobokhobo and Skhosana will be gracing the event. Qoki koJahunda CD’s, apparel and a whole lot more branded material will be available at the event as a way of promoting the Gwanda culture and the artistes,” she said.

Kadder said the support they have received from the community in terms of partnerships has been quite encouraging.

“There’s nothing as humbling as having community members backing an arts initiative. This is a great step in the right direction as we’re trying to penetrate the business sector with the hope to raise funds for our projects next year,” said Kadder.

Aquaworld Leisure Centre bar manager Nomalanga Moyo said this was the beginning of many more shows to come. – @mthabisi_mthire
