Madzamba champions development through music

AFRO-FUSION musician and communication expert Ransam Madzamba has released a refreshing new song celebrating the Second Republic’s developmental agenda and its vision of transforming Zimbabwe into an upper-middle-income society by 2030.

Titled “NDS2”, the single, released under his Mazarura stable, echoes President Mnangagwa’s mantra of leaving no one and no place behind.

The patriotic musician, who has consistently used his compositions to champion youth empowerment and national development, said he was excited about the project, describing music as another powerful tool for communicating developmental messages.

“Such a song is not the first of its kind from the Mazarura stable. We have done similar songs, including “Vision 2030,” “Africa,” “Mukoma Ranga” and “Say No to Drug and Substance Abuse,” among others,” Madzamba told Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment Hub.

“This song is inspired by the ongoing developmental programmes in the country. These developments have to be communicated to the majority of Zimbabweans so that they appreciate them and become part of the trajectory.

“Music is another way of communicating an ideology, and the song is all about exploring what the National Development Strategy 2 is all about and how crucial it is in taking us towards an upper-middle-income society by 2030.”

Despite his busy schedule as director of communication and advocacy in the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training, Madzamba said he had found time to pursue his musical passion, with perfection remaining his hallmark.

“I started working on the song early this year, in January. The visuals are all done and ready for Zimbabweans to consume.

“The song is very much relevant as the nation is tirelessly working to attain an upper-middle-income society by 2030. It is a call to action.

“It is communicating a message to say, “Look, we have done much in our developmental trajectory, so let us continue working hard as a people towards the attainment of an upper-middle-income society.”

“I am just using music to communicate. Well, I am a communicator by profession, and I am communicating a message of hope to the general public,” he said.

Madzamba said the music video captures the country’s various economic activities, giving audiences a glimpse into the developmental programmes being implemented across different sectors.

“I am done with the visuals of the song, and they cover almost all the economic endeavours being carried out in the country, be it mining, road construction, tourism, agriculture, youth and women empowerment, among many others.

“The budget was not a weak one. My vision is to use music as an enabler of the social and economic well-being of our great country.

“As a mbira player, it is my vision to continue playing Zimbabwean music — music that identifies us as Zimbabweans. It is thus my vision to continue restoring that which identifies us as Zimbabweans, remembering our history to shape our future.”

Outlining his vision as a communication expert, researcher and musician, Madzamba vowed to serve his country with distinction.

“I am a patriotic communicator and will always want to communicate through music for the competitive advantage of my country, Zimbabwe, and all its people.

“I am a communicator by profession. I am currently a Communication and Advocacy PhD student and hold a Master of Science degree in Media and Society Studies, as well as a BSc Honours degree in Media and Society Studies, among other qualifications.

“I am a mbira player and very proud to be a Zimbabwean.

“I have been recognised as one of the young influential communicators in the country twice.”

A social commentator and youth empowerment advocate, Madzamba also applauded the Government for creating a stand-alone Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training.

To complement creatives who are determined to acknowledge the country’s development agenda, he has also established a stable that records and nurtures young and upcoming musicians.

Through various youth-centred initiatives, Madzamba has been championing programmes aimed at reducing unemployment, promoting entrepreneurship and imparting life skills.

Musically, he remains committed to using his talent not only to entertain, but also to inspire, educate and empower others.

To him, Zimbabwe’s development agenda is the way to go.
