A 54-year-old self-styled Ruwa prophet was yesterday arrested for allegedly raping the younger sister of his wife at a shrine.
Madzibaba Edmore Nyambo, of Johanne Masowe yeChishanu, is based at Sunway City.
Madzibaba Edmore and his family used to stay at the church shrine in Sunway City before moving to Zimre Park.
The complainant and her parents were congregants at Madzibaba Edmore’s shrine.
Madzibaba Edmore allegedly proposed love to the complainant sometime in 2020.
He allegedly claimed he had been directed by the Holy Spirit to take the complainant as his second wife.
The complainant rejected the proposal and reported Madzibaba to her sister.
One day, she paid a visit to her sister at the shrine and found Madzibaba Edmore alone at home.
The complainant started sweeping inside the house.
She claims Madzibaba Edmore then entered the house and allegedly raped her once without protection.
The complainant disclosed the case to her sister and also told her father.
The family members agreed to keep the rape a secret.
However, someone then tipped the Harare East District Victim Friendly Unit.
When the complainant was interviewed, she disclosed to the police that she was raped by Madzibaba Edmore.
It led to his arrest.
National police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, could not be reached for comment.
However, H-Metro is reliably informed that the case was reported at Ruwa Police Station under RRB 6950559.
