detectives swooped on Madzore yesterday and took him to Harare Central Police Station before taking him to Bindura Police Station for further investigations.
Chief police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba confirmed the arrest of Madzore.
“He was picked up today (yesterday) for questioning for insulting the President at a rally held in Mushumbi in Mashonaland Central province,” she said.
Snr Asst Comm Charamba said investigations were still in progress.
Madzore is expected to appear in court soon once investigations have been finalised.
Sources said Madzore insulted President Mugabe at a rally held in Mushumbe-Mbire last Saturday.
MDC-T organising secretary Mr Nelson Chamisa said, “I am in a meeting right now but I have received unconfirmed reports of this unnecessary and embarassing act of undermining one of our leaders.”
He referred all the questions to their party’s spokesperson Mr Douglas Mwonzora who could not be reached as he was not answering his phone.
Madzore, is part of the 29 party activists accused of murdering police inspector Petros Mutedza at Glen View 3 shopping Centre in 2011. He was released on US$500 bail together with Lovemore Taruvinga (alias Magaya) after spending over a year in prison.
