MAGITARE Africa Trust in collaboration with the National Art Gallery of Zimbabwe is holding a So Creative Session in Gwanda.
The workshop is being held under the theme “Sustainability, Collaboration and Growth in the Creative Economy”. Topics that will be covered during the session include creative entrepreneurship, branding and marketing, financial sustainability, collaboration, intellectual property among others.
SoCreative Sessions are interactive, in-person workshops designed to empower creative professionals- artists, designers, musicians and storytellers with practical skills for building sustainable, profitable creative businesses.
The SoCreative Sessions are a strategic intervention aimed at formalising the creative sector in Zimbabwe. The regional session has brought together artists, designers, and musicians from across Matabeleland South to equip them with the business tools necessary to move from “informal talent” to “sustainable enterprises.”
Speaking during the session Magitare Africa Trust Creative Lead, Tariro Chaniwa urged creative professionals in Gwanda to take advantage of the benefits of their geographic location.
“You’re in a strategic place because Gwanda is a strategic meeting point for Matabeleland South. This place has a lot of tourism activities and tourism links with entertainment. My desire is to see opportunities being decentralised beyond Harare. You need to tell the Gwanda story to the world.
“We want to know what is happening in rural communities as they are unique in their own way. Let’s also collaborate and create networks,” she said.
Magitare Africa Trust is a social enterprise dedicated to fostering global understanding through the arts and promoting community development through creative initiatives.
