Maguranyanga makes it for African Champs

UNITED States-based sprinter, Kundai Maguranyanga is expected to be part of Team Zimbabwe for the Africa Senior Championships this month.

The championships are now expected to take place from June 23 to 27 in Lagos, Nigeria.

While the National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe are still to finalise the team, Maguranyanga, who is on an athletics scholarship at Texas Christian University in the United States, has received confirmation, to be part of the team.

“The National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe hereby takes this opportunity to inform you that you qualified for Africa Senior Championship in 100m and 200m and you have been selected to represent the country at the Africa Senior Championships to be held in Nigeria from June 23rd to 27th, 2021.

“This is a great honour, which we hope you will seriously consider and look forward to meet you in Lagos as part of Team Zimbabwe,” read the letter to Maguranyanga.

NAAZ director for coaching, talent identification and development, Lisimati Phakamile, said they were still in the process of finalising the team.
