Magwegwe High launches anti-drug song

Bongani Ndlovu

MAGWEGWE High School in Bulawayo is on Friday launching a song titled Izidakamizwa aimed at raising awareness about the growing scourge of drug and substance abuse among youths.

The song was written by pupils from the school and mixed and mastered by So Much Music, a studio run by former learners of Magwegwe High School.

Through the song, the pupils warn about the dangers of drug and substance abuse, highlighting how the vice not only destroys individuals but can also wipe out an entire generation.

The launch event is also showcasing a range of talents from the school, with pupils taking part in activities such as modelling, arts and crafts, singing and dancing through various arts groups.

Zimbabwe has in recent years been battling the growing problem of illicit drugs and narcotics, which authorities say is increasingly affecting young people across the country.

The initiative by the school is part of efforts by communities and institutions to raise awareness and encourage young people to stay away from drugs.
