The trust, whose patron is the Minister of Media, Information and Publicity, Webster Shamu, was established in April this year.
The academy has been established to teach young artistes the basics of music.
In an interview the organisation’s director, Busani Sulo said the objective behind establishing the academy was to teach young artistes important aspects of music, especially the playing of musical instruments.
“A lot of artistes in Bulawayo have not had formal training on how to plays musical instruments. We will be particularly focusing on teaching young musicians how to use various music instruments because acquiring such skills is important,” he said.
Sulo said that the trust will also be working with the disabled, as they felt that disabled people were largely neglected.
“As part of this project we will be taking students from the Jairos Jiri Centre who are also interested in music,” he said.
The trust has already carried out several activities during the year, including a Christmas Carols Concert that was held in Eastview a fortnight ago while a collaborative song between a number of Bulawayo artistes is also in the pipeline.
