Gospel sensation, Michael Mahendere, is now a big brand.

The talented master of praise and worship proved his worth with a sold-out gig at Harare Gardens last weekend. He made history after breaking the Harare Gardens jinx, as the venue had become a dungeon of flops.

Not only had Harare Gardens become the theatre of flops but the once ceremonial home of family shows was in a bad state.

Minister Mahendere’s magic changed the narrative as he filled the venue to the rafters.

It was a marvel to watch the charismatic man of God as he delivered a flawless act set to remain etched in the minds of many.

Minister Mahendere proved that gospel music is now evolving and a favourite of many.

Everything about his show will remain historic as he nailed it from start to finish.

Parading more than 20 members, and a star-studded line-up of gospel artistes such as Janet Manyowa, Larry Gunda, Tapiwa Masara, Tsitsi, Nyasha Mutonhori, Eleana Makombe, The Cherayis, Mai Tande and Psalmist Hubert C among others, the singer proved to his fans that he is indeed the man of the moment.

He made his job easier as he belted sing-along songs such as “Makomborero”, “Ndinobuda Pakaoma” and “Tangai Neni” among others.

He took the opportunity to introduce his younger brother, Misheck Mahendere, who travelled from South Africa to spice up the event.

“I come from a rich music family and I am glad to be here worshipping with my brother,” said Misheck as he was introduced on stage by his brother Michael.

Misheck, a well-known multi-instrumentalist and producer, demonstrated how it is done.

He easily won the hearts of many as he ushered out all his artistic verve with passion.

Enoch Chasale spiced up the event as he added humour, which was missing.

It would be unfair not to talk of songstress Eleana Makombe, who brought her A’ game on stage.

She had the energy and well choreographed act, which surprised many at the show.

Eleana had a good day in the office as she belted out her hits, leading the crowd into a frenzy.

What made the event worth attending was the presence of kids madly in love with gospel music.

A die-hard fan, who identified herself as Mai Maka, lauded the singer for his talent.

“I have been following Minister Mahendere for years and today’s show was a game-changer as he demonstrated his capabilities.

“Everything was on point as he showed that he is a professional. Only haters can go against this act as we enjoyed ourselves with my kids, who are madly in love with his music,” she said.

Mahendere is one of the consistent gospel artistes doing well at the moment. He comes from a rich musical family led by Amos Mahendere. Misheck and Michael hailed their brother, Amos, as a role model who showed them the way.

Everything was on point as the stage mounting was perfectly done while the sound and lighting were superb.
