Gospel musicians Minister Michael Mahendere and Tatenda Mahachi have been nominated at the upcoming South African Crown Gospel Music Awards.
The awards seek to celebrate and reward excellence within the gospel music industry in South Africa and beyond.
This year’s edition will be held on November 27 in Durban.
The two artistes are vying for the Best of Africa award alongside Boango Fenju from Botswana and Linda Dhlamini from Eswatini.
Mahendere, who has numerous global awards under his belt, said he was happy with the recognition.
“When I compose music, my desire is to see it impacting people’s lives positively, and getting recognition globally gives me joy.
”I am looking forward to grabbing the award.” he said
Mahendere, who is backed by his band, Direct Worship, thanked his fans for their unwavering support of his music.
The astute gospel music singer is riding high with songs like “Guta Rehutiziro”, ”Tangai Neni” and “Ndamuona” off his latest offering, Getting Personal With God 4.
In an interview, Mahachi could not hide his joy at being nominated.
“I am so elated to have been nominated at such prestigious awards,” he said.
Mahachi believes his latest collaboration single with South Africa gospel diva Dr Winnie Mashaba earned him the nomination.
“I feel so humbled by the way my new song has been received locally and regionally,” he said.
“It is just a month old, but the feedback on the song has been overwhelming.”
