Gospel musician Minister Michael Mahendere successfully recorded a live DVD for his latest offering “Getting Personal With God (GPWG)4” at the gigantic City Sports Centre on Saturday evening where people from all walks of life came in their numbers.
The stage set up was superb and the recording ran under the theme “Mercy”.
An array of gospel musicians who performed did not disappoint as they took turns to entertain fans by dishing out their popular hits which were sing along to fans.
Choral group, Joyful Praise stole the hearts of many with their energetic performance as they did popular songs like “Makanyanya” and “Ngoro Yeminana”.The United Family International Church (UFIC) Choir also delivered a top notch act with musicians Psalmist Hubert C, Worshipper Larry Gunda,Tapiwa Masara,Tinashe Magacha,Carol Nyakuba,Alex Gunda and Blessing Deve taking turns to charm the fans.
Later, the moment arrived when the Direct Worship Team took to the centre stage dressed in a two piece white outfits and white sneakers. They looked superb.
Their performance set was divided into three segments worship, mid tempo and praise and for each set they wore different exquisite outfits.
The band delivered top notch performance complemented by well-arranged choreography. They started off with a song called “Favour” as Mahendere joined them to the stage wearing an executive beige suit, courtesy of 4May International.
Mahendere exhibited his artistry skills when he dramatised acts that resonate with the meaning of his song “Rarama”as he brought to the stage a person who acted as very ill patient who is at the point of dying on a stretcher bed but then received life from God .
He changed the atmosphere when he led the audience into a deep moment of worship with the song “You are Holy”.
Hit songs “Tangai Neni”,”Guta Rehutiziro” and “Zvaringana” kept fans on their feet as the “Makanaka Jesu” hit-maker exhibited his dancing skills when he also delivered an old school track titled “Blessed be the name of the Lord”.
Mahendere introduced a new song he collaborated with his wife Vimbai titled “Handirase Tariro”.
Their piece proved that indeed the two are a power gospel couple.
Celebrated music star Everton Mlalazi and his Vine Band did not disappoint as he belted out his songs “Ndokutevera Muponesi”, “Nyasha Dzaishe Jesu” and “Ndotsvaga Imi Moga”.
The curtain came down with a special performance from South African based gospel musician Takesure Zamah Ncube.
Among the celebrities that graced the event include the likes of Madam Boss, Janet Manyowa,Jonah Chivasa,Tatenda Mahachi, Nigel Tha Slick Pastor , comedian Marcelo and Joseph Madziyire.
Youth, Sports,Arts and Recreation deputy Minister Tinoda Machakaire who said he was fond of Mahendere’s music gifting him with US$20 000.
Speaking to the Herald Arts and Entertainment after the event, Mahendere said he was grateful to all the partners that made the event to be successful.
“Despite so many challenges that we faced that almost made this event impossible to happen, I thank God that finally it became a success. I thank all the partners that came on board, the fans that came in their numbers and the band itself for their commitment,” he said.
