Seasoned gospel musician Mai Mwamuka says the upcoming Ekhaya Worship Festival is fast becoming a unifying platform for Christians from different denominations and nations through worship and fellowship.
The highly anticipated praise and worship gathering is set to take place in Bulawayo on Africa Day, May 25.
Founded by award-winning gospel musician Everton Mlalazi as part of celebrations for his birthday on May 22, the festival is expected to attract more than 15 000 worshippers from across Zimbabwe and neighbouring countries.

Mai Mwamuka, who is among the artistes billed to perform, said she feels privileged to return for the festival’s second edition after being part of its successful debut last year.
“I was part of the inaugural edition of Ekhaya, and it’s an honour to be invited again this year as one of the performers. This means a lot to me and to our music family as we celebrate the life and ministry of my brother, Everton Mlalazi,” she said.
The Tauya Baba hit-maker described the festival as a divine platform that promotes unity within the body of Christ.
“This event is interdenominational and attracts Christians from different congregations and backgrounds. We’ll all gather in one place to worship God together, and that’s very important for the body of Christ, to be united as one people,” said Mai Mwamuka.
She also highlighted the festival’s significance in strengthening gospel music networks and fostering collaboration among artistes from different countries.
“I’ve seen that many artistes and groups from Zimbabwe and other countries will be performing at the concert. It’s a great opportunity for local creatives because we get to meet and interact with artistes we have never met before.
“Ekhaya has created a platform for us to connect, exchange ideas, and even explore future collaborations,” she said.
Mai Mwamuka promised worshippers a spiritually uplifting experience, saying attendees should prepare for a powerful encounter with God.
“People should expect a polished performance, but above all, they should expect the presence of God. I believe there will be miracles, healing, and deliverance as people worship together,” she said.
Apart from host Everton Mlalazi and Mai Mwamuka, the festival will feature South African gospel stars Zaza Mokhethi and Dumi Mkokstad, alongside Oncemore Six, Canaan Nyathi, and acclaimed acappella group Reality 7. Other performers include Dunamis Men, Nkosi Herman, Conquerors, Pastor Barak Family, Zimpraise, Family Voices, Lorraine Maplanka, Vocal Ex, Vocal Base, Blessing Jeduthun, Loveness Mukutirwa, Mwenda Shimunzhila, iWorship Zim, and Tehillah Testament.
The free-for-all event will begin at 9am and run until late.
