Upcoming gospel musician Rhodha Tongogara has released her second album titled “Ndisimbiseiwo”. The 33-year-old UK-based musician said she was overwhelmed by the response on the first album that featured Mathias Mhere.
“The first album inspired me to work on this one because the response was overwhelming and I am happy,” she said.
On the album she featured another gospel artiste gospel musician, Obert Mazivisa, on songs “Ndisimbiseiwo” and “Apo Jesu”.
She said she was still to decide the venue for the launch of the album.
“Just like the first project we will be launching it in Zimbabwe because we want our music to start from grassroots,” she said.
Over the weekend she performed in Gokwe and Domboshava.
“The shows were successful and I was happy that people are beginning to appreciate my music,” she said.
Some of the songs are “Nguva Yekubvuma”, “When I Cry”, “Inzwaiwo Kuchema”, “Zita Rajesu” and “Ndinomutenda”.
The gospel musician said she was inspired to record an album because women were not allowed to preach at their church.
“My church, St Peter’s Holy Apostolic Church, does not allow women to preach so I decided to have an album that allows me to preach to the world,” she said.
She said she has decided to start with a traditional beat and some hymns.
“My late father loved a hymn called ‘Tsitsi’ and I dedicated the song to him,” she said.
Born on September 14, 1981, she grew up in Goromonzi before relocating to the United Kingdom in 2003.
“I began music in UK and I wish to venture into music on a full time basis.
“My plan is to establish a full band back home because in the UK I have session musicians who are available whenever I have a show but here it will be different,” she said.
