Maid in sexual abuse storm

A 22-YEAR-OLD maid was yesterday remanded in custody after she appeared in court accused of indecently assaulting an eight-year-old boy she was employed to take care of.

Melissa Gudo was not asked to plead when she appeared before Harare magistrate Letwin Rwodzi. She is expected back in court next month for trial commencement and was advised to approach the High Court for bail considerations as she is facing a third schedule offence. Prosecutors alleged that on July 25, Gudo retired to sleep in the same room with the boy, but on different beds.

The complainant allegedly woke up and found out that his pyjama trousers and underwear had been removed.

He allegedly saw Gudo walking to her bed and felt pain on his private parts and realised that he had been sexually abused by his maid.

The next day, the boy told his mother that he was feeling pain on his private parts.

He revealed that he had been sexually abused by the maid.

A police report was filed at ZRP Ruwa leading to Gudo’s arrest. Cecilia Mashingaidze appeared for the State.
