ALL women are beautiful, irrespective of body size and complexion, and as such, they should be loved and treated with respect, organisers of the inaugural Royal Miss Vithikazi 2022 have said.

The spotlight will be shone on plus-sized women at the National Art Gallery of Zimbabwe in Bulawayo on Saturday as the beauty pageant seeks to fight the stigma and stereotyping directed at these women.

Plus-sized women are defined as those wearing a larger clothing size than what society defines as “normal”.

Speaking to Chronicle Showbiz, Isilimela Events representative Thandekile Ndlovu underscored the importance of appreciating beauty irrespective of size.

“We’re advocating for the plight of plus-sized women who are usually body-shamed and made objects of mockery and ridicule. The mere idea of calling them names like ‘fat’ is what we’re trying to do away with.

“Abasozidudla mafehlefehle lababantu, ngamavithikazi. They’re plus-sized beautiful women. Beauty is not about size, hence every woman should be proud of her own body and skin and that’s the idea behind the Royal Miss Vithikazi 2022,” said Ndlovu.

Aged between 18 and 35 years, 12 plus-sized women will be strolling the ramp for a chance to be among three women who will be crowned the queen, first, and second princess. These will stand a chance to win cash and hamper prizes at the competition that is set to be held annually.

Shadreck Ndlovu also known as Papa Shady will be the host and entertainment will be provided by female rapper Noluntu “Ndlunkulu” J, Proff The Maze and Gugu among other artistes.

Royal Miss Vithikazi is set to complement other beauty pageants that celebrate plus-sized women such as Miss Curvy Zimbabwe, Miss Plus You Bulawayo Beauty Pageant and Miss Bodylicious. – @eMKlass_49
