One of the members of top hip hop and RnB group Major Playaz, Chyllur Chihava has made a return to the local music scene, with a new single entitled “Horror”.
The song that had its radio release last week continues to receive rave reviews with fans appreciating his unique vocals and lyrical prowess.
Speaking on the track, the soft-spoken musician said the move marked the start of his solo career.
“The song is taken off my 15 track album that will be released at the end of this month. It basically speaks about jealously in a relationship, something which a lot of people can relate to,” he said.
Chyllur said his music was not so different from the Major Playaz brand they created years ago, a deliberate move meant to rekindle memories.
“Music does evolve but I have taken the time to research in the industry while staying true to the international style that we always used to do as Major Playaz. With time however, the music will reflect more about me,” he said.
Chyllur also shed light on the current state of affairs of the group, saying the other two members – Thomas and Richard Marufu – were sharpening their musical skills abroad.
“We took a break from doing music because the other two guys left the country to pursue their education. We are still in touch and when they eventually return we will reunite. For now, I am solo. In fact I never stopped doing music,” he said.
While his appearance resembles the boy next door, his work presents an edgy artiste with an even sinister music cover of a girl holding a bloody knife.
However, his album confirms his bad boy side with songs like “Someone’s Girl” where he sings about being in love with his fiend’s girlfriend.
“The album has party and dance songs. There are also a number of relationship and love songs as well,” said the musician who also says he is not in a relationship.
