Makarawu, Charamba finish strong

SPRINTERS Tapiwanashe Makarawu and Makanakaishe Charamba concluded their participation at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with a good fight in the men’s 200m final finishing sixth and eighth respectively at the Stade de France.

Makarawu clocked 20.10 seconds and Charamba completed the race in 20.53 seconds.

Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo was the first to cross the finish line in 19.46 seconds.

USA’s Kenneth Bednarek was second in 19.62 seconds and Noah Lyles settled for third position in 19.70 seconds.

This is the first times Zimbabwe have had two sprinters in the Olympics final.

Both athletes were competing at the Games for the first time after securing slots at the quadrennial showpiece.
