CHRISTMAS is a time for giving.
In this spirit, The Sunday Mail Religion is fundraising to assist Shalom Christian Foundation Trust and Melfort Old People’s Home.
Located in Harare’s Budiriro suburb, Shalom Christian Foundation Trust cares for vulnerable young people from poor backgrounds.
Some of these young people live at a private property owned by the Trust founder, Pastor Rosewiter Musuna while the others live with their families.
The Trust currently has 75 beneficiaries.
Pr Musuna said: “We need a big farm house or stand as we have been taught projects but have no space to carry them out. We need sewing machines, farming inputs, fish project equipment, a peanut butter-making machine, salon equipment for those who desire to plait hair, day-old road-runner chicks and large water containers.
“Apart from food, these young people also need school fees, stationery, furniture, computers, sports equipment, office equipment, clothes and sanitary wear. We will also be grateful to get music instruments and a minibus or truck.”
Melfort Old People’s Home is located on the 42.5km peg along the Harare-Marondera highway.
They need 300kg mealie-meal, 30kg sugar, 18 litres cooking oil, 15kg beans, 15kg kapenta, 15kg soya mince, 30 bars blue bar soap, 30 x 50mls vaseline, 10 litres detergents, 20 litres toilet cleaner, liquid soap 5litres, 10 litres dishwasher, one wheelbarrow, two shovels, two garden picks, a 50m long hose, desktop computer and printer, medical kit (bp machine, glucometer, medical box with painkillers and cough mixtures, bandages etc), 35 blankets, 30 mattresses, four cooking pots, 35 plastic plates, 35 plastic cups and four big dishes.
