TWO teenagers from Makokoba suburb in Bulawayo aged 13 and 14 allegedly went on a house breaking spree burgling into four houses in three days. The teens pinched three cell phones – a Samsung Duo, a Nokia Asha and a Nokia Lumia in the spate of robberies.

They appeared yesterday before Bulawayo provincial magistrate Sibongile Msipa facing three counts of theft and four counts of unlawful entry into premises.

The duo was remanded out of custody to December 16.

The State’s case led by Nkathazo Dlodlo is that on September 4 at round 9 AM along Fife Street and 2nd Avenue, Bulawayo, Queen Morris left her house unlocked and went downstairs to do the laundry.

“While doing her laundry the teenagers gained entry through the open door and stole a Nokia Lumia 510 cell phone which was on the table,” said Dlodlo.

The duo was arrested and the cell phone valued at $300 was recovered.

The court heard that on September 11 at around 10 AM, Petronella Sibanda of Yolande Court along Robert Mugabe way and Connaught Avenue, went outside to clean her car, leaving the main door closed but unlocked.

“Whilst she was washing her car, the teens opened the door and gained entry into the house,” said Dlodlo.

They managed to steal a Nokia Asha valued at $80 that was on the charger.

“On that same day the duo went to Dennis Mureki’s residence at Siebird Mansion, Jason Moyo Street and 14th Avenue, Bulawayo,” said Dlodlo.

Mureki decided to take a bath leaving the main door of his house closed but unlocked.

The court heard that the teens gained entry through the unlocked door and stole a Samsung Duo cellphone valued at $42.

Mureki and Sibanda reported the matter to the police leading to their arrest and the Samsung duo and Nokia Asha cell phones were recovered.
