THERE is no stopping former Miss Zimbabwe Malaika Mushandu as she was crowned World Super Model at a glittering event held in Bloemfontein, South Africa last Saturday. The competition saw 40 models drawn from across the world battle it out for the coveted title.

The beauty queen, who had taken a four-year hiatus from modelling while focusing on her film studies, said the pageant organisers were still drafting her contract following the victory.

“My contract is still being drafted so I’ll know what the full package is later. It, however, involves a modelling contract,” Mushandu said.

Discovered and nurtured by Mercy “Catwalk” Mushaninga of ZimGossip Models, Mushandu became the youngest ever Miss Zimbabwe winner when she was crowned Queen at the age of 17 years in 2011. She then went on to achieve another milestone the same year when she was in the Top 10 of the Miss World pageant.

In 2012, Mushandu represented Zimbabwe in the Top Model pageant held in Germany and was First Runner Up. World Supermodel International is a division of the World Supermodel Pageant. The event was created to identify up-and-coming supermodels.
