Malajila set to join Chicken Inn

ZPC Hwange forward Obert Malajila is expected to seal a deal with the GameCocks before the end of this week, Chronicle Sport has learnt.

The forward who joined the electric power boys mid-season last year from Mainline, has been training with the GameCocks since last week.

He was in action for ZPC Hwange when they beat Mountain Climbers 2-0 at Luveve Stadium B Arena on Saturday.

Chicken Inn secretary-general Tawengwa Hara was part of the crowd which watched the game. Asked if the forward will be joining the GameCocks, Hara could neither confirm nor deny.

“No deal has been signed with him. If and when we get into the market we will get the quality that will improve our side,” said Hara.

Malajila is the younger brother to former Warriors striker Cuthbert.

Chronicle Sport, however, has it on good authority that the deal with the forward is in its final stages and Chicken Inn should be making an official announcement anytime this week.

The mid-season transfer window will open in July.

Chicken who are chasing the league title will face FC Platinum at Mandava Stadium when the league resumes this weekend.

In the previous season, in a first leg match that was played at Mandava Stadium, FC Platinum edged Gamecocks 2-1.

In the reverse leg which was played at Luveve Stadium on July 2, Pure Platinum Play maintained their dominance as they handed Chicken Inn a 3-0 home defeat.

On Saturday, the two antagonists will clash for 21st time.

From the 20 games they have played so far, FC Platinum have won nine with Chicken Inn posting three wins.

Eight games between the two sides have ended in stalemates.

Norman Mapeza’s mentored FC Platinum have scored 27 goals (14 home and 13 away) past Gamecocks.

On the other hand, Chicken Inn have found the back of the net against the defending champions 18 times (seven home and 11 away)

From a possible 60 points, FC Platinum have managed to collect 35 points from Gamecocks,that is 16 at Mandava Stadium and 19 at Luveve Stadium.

On the other hand, Matore’s men have collected 17 points from the platinum miners -seven in Bulawayo and 10 in Zvishavane.
