admin“We call for (the African National Congress) to take immediate action on the people who incite violence in the ANC,” ANCYL secretary general Sindiso Magaqa said.
“We hope that they (ANC provincial and national leaders) will address these threats with immediate effect because the utterances . . . are conclusively out of order.”
The remark was made by the Umkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans’ Association (MKMVA) in KwaZulu-Natal. “If it was still the struggle era, Julius Malema would have been killed by the firing squad for the way in which he was rude to the ANC leadership,” it said in a statement.
The statement was published in Umafrika newspaper earlier this week. Magaqa said this was not only a misrepresentation of reality and history, but incitement to violence against the league’s leaders.
He said it was not the first time MKMVA leaders in the province had threatened ANCYL members with violence and death.
They should retract the statement and apologise. Should they fail to do so, the league would take the matter to the Equality Court and the SA Human Rights Commission, Magaqa said. — Sapa.
