BLACK Mambas are showing their clear intention of wanting to return to the top flight after they recorded the biggest win in the ZIFA Northern Region Division One Soccer League over the weekend.

The police outfit got the better of struggling Concession United 4-0 at Morris Depot in a one-sided affair.

Black Mambas last enjoyed top flight football in 2013 when they were relegated but coach John “Toto” Ncube is gaining confidence with each passing game that they are there in the race to fight for the championship.

“We are progressing as a team and we are not going to relax as the league is still in its infancy. We need to put more of these positive results and remain in contention.

“The boys need to remain focused as we cannot judge ourselves with the opening four matches. As a team, we have been on a re-building exercise and I think the results should start trickling in. We lost some of our players but that should not be an excuse as we have some equally good players,” said Ncube.

Mambas are sitting on third place, four points behind leaders Ngezi Platinum Under-19 who are yet to drop a single point.

Last year, Black Mambas lost their opening three matches, losing to Banket United 1-0), Golden Eagles (2-1) and Simba Bhora (2-0) after they had 16 new players in their set-up.

This year Black Mambas have lost some of their best players in Archieford Nyamajiwa, Norbert Zingwa, Wesley Chifamba, Nigel Matinha and Tatenda Chiwa.

The team has managed to bring on board former Dynamos and Yadah player Nkosilathi Mhlanga, Nelson Muchongwe, Isheanesu Tembo and Carlos Mutemeri who are helping in transforming the team.

The other ambitious side MWOS registered another victory against Banket United whom they defeated 1-0 at Ngoni Stadium.

MWOS got their goal through Arthur Banda in the 30th minute.
