IN-FORM ZIFA Northern Region Division One Soccer League Black Mambas coach John Ncube has again played down his team being a strong contender for the title despite getting the better of MWOS in a top-of-the-table clash at Ngoni over the weekend.

The Police outfit are yet to taste defeat in 14 league matches and their 1-0 win away to MWOS was a huge statement of intent.

MWOS fell to a 61st minute strike from left-back Tafadzwa Jojo in a game where Warumwa Warumwa captain Kelvin Kavhumbura was outstanding.

Ncube said he was not looking at the championship as yet, as Mambas are still trying to rebuild after losing 13 players before the start of the season.

“I think our targets haven’t changed yet.

“We want to play well and finish in a respectable position, maybe a top four finish as we are re-building. We are happy that the boys are doing well and we are getting favourable results.

“Winning against some of the title contenders gives us confidence that we are on the right track,” said Ncube.

Northern Region Results: PAM 2, Concession 1; MWOS 0, Black Mambas 1; Trojan Stars 0, Harare City 0; ZRP Harare 0, Shamva 0; Chegutu 2, Omnia 1; Golden Eagles 2, Come Again 0; Herentals U-20 1, Commando Bullets 0; Chinhoyi Stars 1, Ngezi U-19 0; Banket United 2, Karoi United 2.
