Mampintsha’s leap of faith!

BIG NUZ member Mampintsha is capitalising on his fame by venturing into the business world. The burly artist, whose real name is Mandla Maphumulo, recently launched Good Shandis sneakers. The excited Mampintsha said: “These sneakers are trendy and have light bulbs and can change up to eight colours with an adjustable on-and-off button.”

Explaining the decision to dip into the business world, Mampintsha said: “One shouldn’t only rely on music as a source of income, because being in the entertainment industry comes and goes, but it’s of paramount importance to leave a legacy.

“Music is great but you can’t rely on it alone. As a person you should also try new things. Also look for opportunities. Launching this project took me close to a year. I researched overseas top guns in the entertainment industry. I want to follow in their footsteps.”

Other celebrities who have their own clothing brands include US basketball star Michael Jordan, who owns Air Jordan Shoes, and Mafikizolo member Nhlanhla Nciza, with the NN Vintage designer clothing shop.

Local celebrities who have been seen endorsing Mampintsha’s brand on social networks include DJ Bongz, DJ Tira, L’vovo Derrango and Trevor Gumbi. Trevor recently uploaded a photo on Instagram of his children wearing the shoes, with the caption #SupportLocalEnterprise.

Sunday Sun spoke to DJ Bongz, who has been seen wearing the sneakers at events. He said: “We’re fully behind local talent. Mampintsha is coming up with something fresh and trendy, which is of very good quality, so we’ve to support him.”

Mampintsha said he plans to launch an online shop so that he can stop running the light-up takkie business from his car boot. “My vision is to grow this footwear brand to such a point that it’ll be known internationally,” he told the People’s Paper. – DailySun.
