NEW: Man (32) arrested for killing wife (61)

Police in Bulawayo have arrested a man for murdering his wife after a domestic dispute.

Thirty-two-year-old Stewart Munyapwa fatally assaulted his 61-year-old wife after an altercation while they were on their way home from a local bar.

In a statement on Monday, ZRP spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest.

“Police in Bulawayo arrested Stewart Munyapwa (32) in connection with a case of murder which occurred at a bushy area at Trenance Suburb on January 15, 2022.

“The suspect fatally assaulted the victim, Khethiwe Moyo (61), with open hands and a sjambok while on their way home from a local bar after a drinking binge.

“An argument arose between the couple after the victim refused to go home as she wanted to go back to the bar to continue drinking,” he said.

In another incident case, police in Fort Rixon arrested a 52-year-old man who attacked his ex-wife and fatally struck her on the head with an unknown sharp object in her house.

Added Asst Comm Nyathi:  “In a related case, police in Fort Rixon arrested Patrick Ngulube (52) in connection with a murder case which occurred at night on January 15, 2022 at Zimbili B, Gadade Village.

“The suspect pounced on his ex-wife Khauhelo Sibanda in her home and fatally struck her with an unknown sharp object on the head after an argument over an undisclosed issue.”
