Man (77) rapes granddaughter

The man lured the juvenile into his bedroom where he raped her on two separate occasions.

Afterwards, he took out a Mossberg rifle and threatened her if she was to inform anyone. The man pleaded not guilty to two rape counts when he appeared before Gweru magistrate, Ms Jeslene Mashiri, who remanded him in custody to today.

Ms Mashiri advised him to apply for bail at the High Court due to the gravity of the offence.
Prosecutor, Mr Michael Mhene, said that on an unknown date, but during the month of June, the minor was playing outside the homestead with her friends. The man called her into his bedroom and upon entering he undressed the juvenile.

On another day last month, the man raped the girl in the same way.
He threatened her with the rifle on both occasions. The juvenile narrated her ordeal to her parents who filed a police report leading to the man’s arrest.

A medical report and the rifle were produced in court as evidence.
