FIVE members of the same family were brutally killed in a night attack that has sparked a massive police manhunt in Guruve.

In a press statement dated 15 December 2025, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed they are investigating “a callous multiple murder incident which occurred on the night of 11th December 2025 at Plot 9, Ona Farm, Guruve.”

The motive for the killings is not yet known.

Anymore Zvitsva, the suspect, allegedly went on a deadly rampage, killing an elderly woman, her daughter, two young grandchildren and another adult family member.
“The suspect allegedly murdered five members of the same family, a female adult, her two children and two grandchildren,” said Comm Nyathi.

He named the victims as Grace Zvitsva (66), Loice Chiringaushe (37), Takudzwa Kariva (5), Tatenda Chirenje (2) and Tendai Zvitsva (40).

Comm Nyathi said the horror scene was discovered by a vigilant neighbour who was jolted awake by disturbing sounds coming from the homestead.
“Initial investigations revealed that a neighbour was awakened by noise emanating from the victims’ homestead and responded promptly,” he said.
“Upon arrival, the neighbour… observed bloodstains at the kitchen doorstep and found Tendai Zvitsva unconscious and bleeding profusely with deep cuts on the chest.”

Police said a further search of the homestead revealed “extensive bloodstains around the homestead with the bodies of Grace Zvitsva, Loice Chiringaushe, Takudzwa Kariva and Tatenda Chirenje lying in the main bedroom.”

In a small mercy amid the carnage, five children were saved.
“The search continued in other rooms, leading to the rescue of five of Grace Zvitsva’s grandchildren who had been sleeping in a spare bedroom and were found unharmed.”

Tendai Zvitsva was rushed to Guruve Hospital but “died upon admission,” Comm Nyathi confirmed.

He said police have launched a full-scale manhunt, deploying drones, Support Unit, CID, Canine, Horse patrols and intelligence teams.

Comm Nyathi said traditional leaders and community members have joined the hunt.

Police further revealed that the suspect is “also linked to the recent murder cases in Zimuna Village, Chief Bepura,” where three members of the Chipangura family were killed.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the National Complaints Desk on (0242) 703631, WhatsApp 0712 800 197 or report to the nearest police station.
