A MAN from Ushewokunze is facing an attempted murder charge after allegedly attacking his nephew over damaged property.
Andrew Fero is accused of striking Taurai Mafuta, 49, twice on the head with an iron bar following a dispute over a pair of radio speakers and a child’s bicycle.
The two are related and live in the same area.
Last month, Mafuta and his wife, Merjury Makorona, travelled to their rural home in Mutoko, leaving the speakers and bicycle with Fero, for safekeeping.
The couple returned on Monday at about 7pm.
The following evening, at about 9pm, they went to Fero’s homestead to collect their belongings.
Fero was not home but they found that the property had been damaged.
Makorona took a solar panel from Fero’s house and the couple left.
When Fero returned and discovered the panel was missing, he went to Mafuta’s homestead and confronted the couple.
They told him Makorona had taken the panel as compensation for the damaged speakers and bicycle.
Fero allegedly became angry, picked up an iron bar and struck Mafuta twice on the head.
He was later arrested.
