Man arrested for illegal possession of raw ivory

POLICE have arrested a man after he was found with raw ivory at his house.

In a statement, police said Elias Reza (49) was arrested on 23 February 2024 at his house in Dzokamushure Village, Karoi.

“ZRP confirms that on 23/02/24, detectives from CID Minerals Flora and Fauna acted on the received information and arrested Elias Reza (49) for unlawful possession of raw ivory at his house in Dzokamushure Village, Karoi. The detectives proceeded to the suspect’s place of residence posing as potential buyers. The suspect took unmarked raw ivory from a hut and was subsequently arrested,” reads the statement.
