Man arrested for possession of a live pangolin

A MAN was arrested for possessing a live pangolin.

The protected animal was in a black satchel placed at the passenger seat of a grey Nissan Tilda vehicle

In a statement on X (Twitter), police said Douglas Chikandiwa (35) was arrested on Saturday at the 40km peg along the Harare- Mukumbura road.

The suspect was arrested at a security checkpoint when he was searched.

“ZRP confirms the arrest of Douglas Chikandiwa (35) in connection with a case of possession of a live Pangolin at the 40-kilometre peg along the Harare – Mukumbura Road on 14/10/23.”

“The police who were at a security checkpoint stopped and searched a grey Nissan Tilda motor vehicle which was being driven by the suspect and recovered a live Pangolin which was stashed in a black satchel placed at the front passenger seat,” reads the statement
