A 54-year-old Budiriro man was on Sunday arrested for allegedly raping his house maid.
Zivai Chiunye allegedly entered the dining room, where his 18-year-old maid was sleeping, and begged her for sex.
The maid turned him down but he allegedly raped her once without protection, at around 4am.
The maid then sought refuge at a neighbour’s house where she narrated her ordeal.
This led to the arrest of Chiunye.
One of the neighbours told H-Metro that the victim had been with the family for less than a month.
“We are now living in fear.
“Chiunye took advantage since his wife was on night duty.
“This girl was taken from the village recently to look after their baby only to be abused in such a manner.
“Some of these maids will be from poor backgrounds and will be expecting to raise money to support their parents unaware of these lions in sheep’s skin,” said the neighbour.
The case was reported at Budiriro Police Station under RRB 6872865.
