A MAN has been arrested after being found with 122 dagga cigarettes and 20 sachets of loose dagga with an estimated street value of US$405 in Mutare.
Samuel Carlos Tiengane was arrested during an operation in the city’s industrial area.
Acting Manicaland police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, said Tiengane (28), was arrested by members of the ZRP Canine Unit following a tip-off.
“On June 26, 2026, at around 6pm, members of the ZRP Mutare Canine Unit were conducting patrols along Dublin Road, in the industrial area, when they received information that a man was allegedly dealing in dangerous drugs at Mwaera Garage.
“Acting swiftly on the information received, the officers proceeded to the location where they identified and arrested the suspect.
“A search conducted on the satchel he was carrying led to the recovery of 122 prepared dagga cigarettes and 20 sachets containing dagga,” said Asst Insp Chinyoka.
He added:
“The recovered dagga has an estimated street value of US$405.
“The suspect is currently assisting police with investigations as inquiries into the matter continue,” he said.
He commended members of the public who continue to provide information to the police, saying community cooperation remains critical in the fight against drug trafficking and substance abuse.
“We urge members of the public to continue supplying the police with credible information on criminal activities taking place within their communities.
“Such cooperation enables us to respond quickly and effectively, helping to keep our communities safe.”
