A 41-year-old Mt Hampden man was on Tuesday fined $20 for assaulting his wife and friend using an unknown object following a misunderstanding over mice.

Luckson Kuliyani of Mt Hampden Farm was facing assault charges when he appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Arnold Maburo.

He pleaded guilty.

Mr Maburo fined Kuliyani $20 (or 10 days).

The court heard that on August 28, 2015 at around 7pm, Langton Chimweta and Kuliyani had a misunderstanding over $5 they had generated from selling mice.

The court heard that Chimweta gave Kuliyani $2,50.

This angered Kuliyani who demanded all the money.

Kuliyani hit Chimweta with an unknown object on the forehead and he sustained a deep cut.

The court heard that Kuliyani was restrained from further assaulting Chimweta by his wife.

While trying to quell the situation, Kuliyani suddenly turned to his wife and head-butted her.

He continued assaulting Chimweta.

The court heard that Chimweta sustained injuries on the right eye, mouth and forehead.
