Man axes landlord ‘for interference’

A 33-YEAR-OLD Bulawayo man allegedly struck his landlord four times with an axe on the head, a court heard recently. Trymore Murambiwa of Emakhandeni suburb who was beating his wife, allegedly axed Lloyd Mlambo, 30, after he tried to restrain him. Mlambo is battling for life at Mpilo Central Hospital where he is in the Intensive Care Unit. Murambiwa was not asked to plead to attempted murder charge when he appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Sibongile Msipa- Marondedze.

She remanded him in custody to September, 23 and advised him to apply for bail at the High Court. Prosecuting, Maria John said on August, 23 at around 1AM, Murambiwa was fighting with his wife Netsai Mupinyi. She said Mlambo got out of his bedroom to investigate after he heard Mupinyi screaming in the yard.

“Mlambo found Murambiwa at the door holding an axe and inquired what was happening,” John said. The court heard that Murambiwa warned his landlord not to interfere in the domestic dispute. “He charged towards Mlambo and struck him four times on the head,” John said.

The court heard that Mlambo collapsed and only regained consciousness after being admitted at Mpilo Central Hospital.
