A MAN was allegedly assaulted and robbed at a popular Glen Lorne night club in the early hours of Friday, a Harare court heard yesterday.
Two suspects, Wright Nyakunhuwa and Listen Tembenuka, appeared before Harare magistrate Ruth Moyo facing robbery charges.
Prosecutors allege that on Saturday, at around 1am, the victim had been drinking at Coconut Lounge when he met the two men and their accomplices.
It is the State’s case that after buying drinks and drinking together, the victim later left the premises and was followed by these men.
Nyakunhuwa allegedly struck him with an empty beer bottle before repeatedly kicking him.
Tembenuka, together with the accomplices, allegedly joined in the attack before stealing US$1,000 cash and a Samsung Galaxy A05 cellphone from the victim.
The victim reported the matter to the police, leading to the arrest of the two suspects.
The stolen property is valued at US$1,070 and has not been recovered.
The court heard that the suspects were positively identified by the victim and some witnesses.
