A BULILIMA man is battling for life after his friend stabbed him on the chest for drinking his mate’s beer without permission.
Matabeleland South acting provincial police spokesperson, Sergeant Stanford Mguni, confirmed the incident which occurred on Tuesday at around 11PM in Madlambuzi area.
He said Bambanani Tshuma (30) of Matiwaza Village and Israel Ndlovu (28) of Tsukuru Village were drinking beer at Cingo Shopping Centre when Tshuma accused Ndlovu of drinking his beer without permission.
“I can confirm that we recorded a case of attempted murder which occurred in Madlambuzi area. Bambanani Tshuma who is the accused was drinking beer with Israel Ndlovu at Cingo Shopping Centre when Tshuma started accusing Ndlovu of drinking his beer without permission.
“A misunderstanding ensued between the two of them and they started fighting. Tshuma pulled out an okapi knife and stabbed Ndlovu on the chest and fled from the scene. Other patrons who were at the scene assisted Ndlovu and they ferried him to Ndolwane Hospital where he was further referred to Plumtree District Hospital. Ndlovu sustained severe injuries as a result of the attack,” he said.
Sgt Mguni said Tshuma was arrested on the following day and investigations were still underway.
He appealed to members of the public desist from resorting to violence to resolve disputes.
Sgt Mguni also urged people to desist from carrying around dangerous weapons in public as they were used to commit violent crimes. — @DubeMatutu
