A 20-YEAR-OLD man took his life in Dzivarasekwa Extension after suffering significant losses in the gambling game, widely known as KANDEGE.

Ashley Patrick Magarira is said to have committed suicide after losing US$800, which was meant for his brother’s school fees, in the gambling game called Aviator.

A neighbour in Dzivarasekwa Extension said the community was in shock.

“We are deeply concerned as a community when our children are choosing death because of the allure of quick money,” he said.

“This gambling addiction is robbing our youths of their future.

“We need to come together to combat this menace and safeguard our children, our future, our heritage.”

Ashley’s body was taken to Sally Mugabe Central Hospital mortuary, for a post-mortem.
