A 31-YEAR-OLD Chipinge man last week decided to cut his life short by consuming a pesticide after he failed to account for $1 500 he had stolen from his mother.Wilbert Bata of Mbarangwa Village in Chief Garahwa’s area was found dead last weekend, a few days after he had stolen Gladys Sibanda’s (55) money and vanished from her homestead.
Manicaland provincial police spokesman, Inspector Enock Chishiri, confirmed the incident and urged people to solve disputes amicably than resorting to cutting their lives short.
“Gladys, on May 16, discovered that her money amounting to $1 500 was missing. She on May 20, travelled to Checheche Growth Point looking for Wilbert.
She saw him having a beer binge with friends.
He was quizzed over the money and only about $400 was recovered,” he said.
Wilbert later consumed a pesticide. He died and his body was taken to Chipinge District Hospital mortuary.
