Man convicted for physical abuse

A 24-year-old man from Spring Village in Nyanga was recently convicted of physically abusing his wife and sentenced to four months imprisonment by the Beitbridge Magistrate Court.

His sentence was wholly suspended on the condition that he performs 140 hours of community service.

A press statement issued by the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe confirmed the conviction.

“The incident occurred on October 14th when the accused returned home drunk and found a female visitor in their bedroom and was told she had came to visit that did not sit well with the accused and he slapped the complainant on the cheek before punching her in the face as well as repeatedly on the body,” reads the statement.
