A MAN who stayed with his lover for four months dragged her to court for allegedly demanding that he marries her and for complaining that he had sex with her without having paid lobola price.
Godfrey Moyo from Malindela suburb in Bulawayo fell in love with Bridget Mnkandla. After that they set up a home together and stayed for four months.
After four months according to Moyo, his lover started to nag him demanding that he pays lobola price and they become husband and wife.
He said he told her to be patient, following that their love affair plunged to a halt and they separated. Moyo said following their separation his lover seemed to be on a mission to ruin his reputation as he claimed that he used to make her sleep with goblins. Moyo applied for a protection order at Bulawayo Civil Court.

He said Mnkandla was in the habit of threatening him with unspecified action. Moyo also said he has endured insults as she always insults him about his disability. However, Mnkandla denied ever abusing Moyo.
“I have never abused him in any manner. We had a misunderstanding after he went to South Africa and overstayed. I understand that the applicant (Moyo) no longer loves me. I think he is fabricating issues against me so as to get rid of me,” she said.
In her ruling, the presiding magistrate Beverly Casmila Madzikatire said the court noted that the parties no longer love each other.
“The purpose of a protection order is to maintain peace. Although she refutes all allegations the court will order her not to abuse the applicant in any manner,” ruled the magistrate.
