several houses in Harare appeared in court yesterday.
Taurai Manyowa (24) was not formally charged when he appeared before regional magistrate Mr Never Katiyo facing six counts of robbery and rape.
Mr Katiyo remanded him in custody to July 7 and advised him to apply for bail at the High Court.
His alleged accomplices Jacob Sibanda and Peter Kawaza are still at large.
The State led by prosecutor Editor Mauto alleges that on June 11 this year, the trio went to a house in Chisipite, broke in and stole property worth US$2 080.
They later returned to the house, stole a pellet gun and allegedly threatened to kill the owner of the house before taking turns to rape her.
After raping her, the gang sped off with a car belonging to the woman’s boyfriend.
After the alleged rape the woman made a police report and has since been medically examined at Parirenyatwa Adult Rape Clinic.
It is further alleged that the trio also broke into five other houses and looted property worth thousands of dollars.
Manyowa was arrested on June 17 this year following a tip off from members of the public.
The gang stole property worth US$11 480 but property worth US$7 950 has since been recovered in a house in Mbare where it was being sold.
