HE body of a man, identified as Nkosilathi Dube, was found in Makokoba in what police suspect to be a case of murder.
According to police sources, Dube’s body showed signs of severe assault, indicating that he may have succumbed to injuries sustained during the attack.
The body was reportedly discovered in Makokoba under circumstances that have prompted police to launch investigations into the suspected murder.
In a statement, the Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the death and said investigations were underway. Police said preliminary indications suggest that the deceased had been severely beaten before his death.
A relative of the deceased revealed that the family strongly suspects that a former son-in-law, Mandla Luphahla, could be linked to the attack. The relative alleged that Luphahla had previously terrorised the family while demanding the whereabouts of his ex-wife, Faith Masina, whom he reportedly insisted was still his wife.
Authorities have not yet officially disclosed the motive behind the attack or confirmed any suspects.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the Makokoba community, with residents expressing concern over the violent nature of the suspected murder.
Police have appealed to members of the public who may have information that could assist with investigations to come forward.
The body of the deceased was taken for post-mortem as investigations continue.
