A LUPANE man was found in possession of a python skin, hyena tail, pangolin scales and two pieces of elephant tusks hidden in his bedroom.
Nkosilamandla Ncube, 40, of Fatima Village, was arrested and was taken to court where he was sentenced to nine years and six months in prison.
In a statement, CID spokesperson, Detective Inspector Rachel Muteweri, said:
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police welcomes the sentencing of Nkosilamandla Ncube, found guilty of possession of protected species under the Parks and Wildlife Act.
“On August 28, 2025, Detectives from Minerals Flora and Fauna received information to the effect that there was a man who was in possession of different animal trophies at his residence.
“They reacted to the information and found the accused person at his residence.
“The accused person took the detectives to his bedroom where a python skin, hyena tail, pangolin scales and two pieces of elephant tasks, were recovered.
“On September 16, 2025, the accused appeared at Hwange Magistrates Court before Magistrate Mr Brighton Matope and the State represented by Miss Makanza, who convicted and sentenced him to an effective 9 years 6 months imprisonment,” said Det-Insp Muteweri.
