A 20-YEAR-OLD man from Emganwini suburb in Bulawayo yesterday appeared in court for allegedly hugging and kissing a vendor.
Divine Moyo allegedly hugged and kissed Ms Beauty Joseph who also resides in the same neighbourhood.
Moyo appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Ms Tancy Dube and pleaded not guilty to a charge of indecent assault. He was remanded in custody to tomorrow for commencement of trial.
Mr Tapiwa Solani prosecuted.
The court heard that on January 10, Moyo approached Ms Joseph intending to buy some hot chips she was selling.
Mr Solani said as Ms Joseph was preparing food for Moyo, he hugged and kissed her before she pushed him away.
“Moyo pulled Ms Joseph closer to him hugging and kissing her once without her consent. After being pushed away, he threw her lunchbox which had potatoes and Russian sausages on the ground,” said Mr Solani.
Ms Joseph was given a chance to say her side of the story in court.
She said before Moyo pulled her closer to him, he had tried kissing her and she refused. “Moyo approached me intending to buy hot chips. He pulled out some money and as he handed it to me, he tried kissing me and l refused. He later dragged me closer to him and kissed me before running away,” Ms Joseph said.
Moyo ran away and people who were nearby ran after him but failed to apprehend him.
Ms Joseph called her husband and they reported the matter to the police. – @LissahMangena
