A man has appeared in court today for allegedly raping his wife’s 13-year-old daughter since 2020, threatening to kill her if she ever disclosed the matter to anyone.

He appeared before Harare regional magistrate Mr Donald Ndirowei charged with rape.

He was advised to seek bail at the High Court and will come back to court on January 12, 2024.

The State alleged that sometime in 2020, the accused whose name is being withheld came back home and found the complainant alone at home and raped her.

He produced a riffle and pointed it at her ordering her to remain silent or else he would kill her if she disclosed the matter to anyone.

She complied and she was raped on two different occasions.

The court also heard sometime in 2021, the complainant relocated and started staying at Deera Village under Chief Chiuka, in Juru.

She kept the issue to herself until September this year when she bathed with her cousin who noticed that the complainant had some genital warts.

She was taken to the prophets for cleansing but it did not work until they took her to Edith Hospital for treatment.

This is when it was discovered that she had been sexually abused and the complainant told her mother the truth that her stepfather used to rape her.
