A Harare man has appeared in court on two counts of unlawful entry in aggravating circumstances.

Richard Hodzi (48) was denied bail when he appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi.

Allegations are that on January 2, Hodzi planned to steal from Queen of Hearts director, Paul Michael Bowen’s premises.

It is alleged that around midnight, Hodzi scaled the precast wall and used an unknown object to force open the dining room window to gain entry into Bowen’s house.

According to the State, Hodzi stole a 40-inch Sharp television set, Apple laptop and 9 000 Mozambican Metical and fled.

In the morning, Bowen discovered that his property had been stolen and reported to the police.

Hodzi was captured on CCTV installed at Bowen’s house.

He was arrested on January 7, and voluntarily led police to where the stolen property was.

In another case, sometime in February last year, Hodzi is accused of stealing fishing equipment from Harris Ian’s place.

It is alleged that he stole 42 fishing rods, 275 soft plastic baits, a 12 volts battery and other property.

The matter came to light when Wisdom Kahiya was arrested when he was found in possession of Ian’s stolen equipment.

Kahiya indicated that he’d purchased the equipment from Hodzi.
