Man in possession of unregistered gun

Josphat Tarubinga (63) of 6196 Westbrook in Kadoma was arrested when he made a U-turn at State House.

Tarubinga, who appeared before Mr Archie Wochiunga, pleaded not guilty to charges of possessing a firearm without a valid certificate.
He was remanded to July 14 for trial on free bail.
Appearing for the State Mr Desire Chidanire alleged that on March 30 this year at around 4pm, Tarubinga was driving along Josiah Tongogara Street in Harare and made a U-turn when he was near the State House.

Security agents at the State House stopped him and discovered an FN browning pistol.

Tarubinga, the court heard, produced a fake firearms certificate and was subsequently arrested.
On April 1, the pistol was taken to Central Firearms Registry where it was discovered that it had no registration record.

The firearm was produced in court as an exhibit.
