Man jailed 15 years for raping Grade 7 student

A 25-year-old man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for raping his ex-wife’s young sister who is a Grade 7 learner.
The man from Tengwe appeared before the Karoi Magistrates’ Court facing rape charges.
The court heard that on July 15, 2024 at around 10 pm, the man and his brother went to the complainant’s place of residence and went straight to her bedroom.
Allegations are that the man asked about the whereabouts of his ex-wife and was informed that she was not at home.
The man and his brother left but he returned around midnight and sneaked into the complainant’s room.
The court heard that the complainant woke up after feeling the man on top of her.
She positively identified him and called out to her father but the man ran away before the complainant’s father arrived.
The complainant narrated her ordeal to her father and a police report was made.
