A GLENDALE murderer has been jailed 18 years for stabbing his churchmate over a dispute about who was to hire a prostitute they were drinking beer with.
High Court Judge, Justice Munamato Mutevedzi, has labelled Lemnice Charewa and his accomplice, Takemore Chipura, as hypocrites.
The duo murdered Garikai Chiwaridzo on November 25, 2019, at Hideout Night Club in Glendale.
Chipura has been a fugitive since the commission of the crime.
The State said Charewa pinned Chiwaridzo’s hands behind his back while Chipura drew out a knife and stabbed the deceased deep into his chest.
Chiwaridzo bled profusely, collapsed and died instantly.
“Their situation is made worse by the fact that they killed a member of their church over a dispute about who would hire the services of a prostitute whom they were drinking with.
“It is the height of hypocrisy.
“It is also settled that in murder cases, there is no escaping imprisonment.
“In the circumstances the offender is sentenced to eighteen (18) years imprisonment,” ruled Justice Mutevedzi.
He added: “The offender, at 51, can still be rehabilitated and contribute something worthwhile to society if given another opportunity.”
